The demand for IT support professionals has grown exponentially, especially in the past five years. In fact, it’s easy to see why.

Support specialists can come from all walks of life and they work in a variety of capacities. However, most companies find that they need their technical support specialist to have extensive experience in computer technology. Before applying for a job, always ask about the companies’ requirements for technical support and how you should approach the job. Being bilingual is also a plus for anyone interested in a technical support career. This can be extremely helpful, especially when handling the communication between your customer and the IT team. You may also want to learn how to handle technical questions from other employees.

If you are already in IT support, but don’t have a degree, you still can achieve a good technical support career. However, it is important to consider education beyond a bachelor’s degree. For instance, you may want to consider obtaining a Master’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent degree.

IT support careers are not for everyone. However, if you’re passionate about technology and willing to help others with their IT issues, this may be a perfect career path for you.
